Book Review: Build a Career in Data Science

Book Review: Build a Career in Data Science

Welcome to #FunDataFriday for the“Build a Career in Data Science” book

A 3 minute read about a cool data resource.

Today’s #FunDataFriday article is about a book AND a podcast called “Build a Career in Data Science”.

What is it?

“Build a Career in Data Science” started as an excellent book by Emily Robinson and Jacqueline Nolis. The material was then extended to create a complimentary (and just as great) podcast. The content is for people who are new to the field of data science or already in the field and looking to understand how to better navigate their career.

Why is it Awesome?

The content is awesome because it cuts right to the chase, delivering very practical considerations and tips which their audience can act upon. The list of topics covered is thorough and well thought out, covering all aspects of a data science career journey from understanding the field to landing a job to succeeding in your job and then your career. They perform a comprehensive and in depth review of each topic (ie “Data Science Companies”) leaving the reader with a concrete understanding of the subject area.

As far as content medium, the book is great because it will serve as an easy reference during your career journey. Along with the book, I suggest listening to the podcast. Emily Robinson and Jacqueline Nolis are highly engaging and their delivery is fun and entertaining. Their light hearted banter makes it feel like you’re in the room chatting with them.

How to get Started?

Get started by buying the book first and listening to the podcast next. You won’t be disappointed!
